When Signorino embarked on an architectural rejuvenation of our Richmond home, the process was driven by one simple goal: to solidify Signorino as Australia’s premier destination for tiles and stone.
Since it’s early 90’s construction, the prominent Church St corner has seen multiple iterations to its façade. After over three decades in operation, the most recent rendition remanded something drastic and bolder in fitting celebration of this proud milestone. With this ambitious vision in mind, the prodigiously talented team of Carr Design was entrusted to mastermind the project, with trusted builders Cobild tasked with the construction.
The result is the cutting edge architectural icon that stands today – a true reflection of the quality and expertise within. Inspired by the monolithic forms of Milanese architecture and the luxury fashion boutiques of Europe, the façade was clad entirely in natural stone – Roman Travertine Classico to be specific. Each Travertine panel was meticulously arranged to work to the grid of the preexisting architecture, with breaks provided by stainless steel inlays and LED strip lighting. As Carr explains, “The selection of Travertine, characterised by its open fissures, surface troughs and concentric texture, was made to highlight the brutal beauty of centuries old stone…” The site becomes all the more striking at night, as the LED’s make the corner glow like a lantern whilst providing fantastic illumination to the window displays.
At long last, we are proud to present the new Signorino.
